ATTACKS & COMBOS
Please bear in mind that this is pre-alpha footage and that animations, look of the game as well as mechanics will be improved and might be changed by the time of final release.
There are 2 types of attacks in Die by the Blade. Horizontal and vertical. If combined with 4 stances it provides enough options on how to customize your attacks. You can perform combos which have 3 stages. The white trail indicates the first stage of a combo. During that time you may start another attack which will be linked to the first one and thereby creating a chain of attacks - combo. The second stage of a combo is yellow. The last, third stage of the combo as you can see is indicated by red colour.
Each stage defines how your enemy can respond to the attack. E. g. If the second stage attack is not blocked, your opponent is killed or gets knocked down to the ground.
The length of that knockdown - basically how long is your opponent staggered depends on each attack and how it was performed. Every single attack has its power that defines how long is your opponent going to be staggered if hit. So you can use this to your advantage. If you learn how long that lasts it can increase your effectivity as a fighter.

GAMEPLAY EXPLAINED: Blocking
Please bear in mind that this is pre-alpha footage and that animations, look of the game as well as mechanics will be improved and might be changed by the time of final release.
To be able to parry your opponent’s attack, you need to have the same blocking stance. If he attacks from the top you also need to quickly change your blocking stance to the top one. For more on stances, check out our previous update.
As you can see in the picture above, the character on left has a wrong stance and as a result, is hit when the character on right attacked from the top. The proper stance to block the attack would be to have a top blocking stance.
As you can see, once you were hit it affects your movement and ability to fight. Of course, this is pre-alpha footage so we are improving this mechanic and will look more real. You will be still able to fight even if injured. However, the speed of your attacks will be affected. Many of you have asked about dismemberment. It’s gonna be implemented as well. Stay tuned for more info on gameplay and our campaign!

GAMEPLAY EXPLAINED:MOVEMENT & STANCES
Hey, what's up friends! Great news.
We are going to show you more from our kitchen. Yes, many of you’ve been shouting that you want to see something...not just hear or read what are we trying to implement.
Aaand yes, you are right, it is better to show than just tell. So let's start. This time it is about movement & stances. Very basic building blocks of the fight in arenas.
MOVEMENT
Or in other words, can I fly? Defy gravity? Do backflip and that kind of shit. Check out the GIF below.
In DBTB you can move freely around the arena. You can roll back and forth which is very useful if you want to avoid a long double-handed weapon. Not mentioning that it will baffle your opponent and drive him/her mad as you will quickly avoid combos and pre-planned hits. You can dash to a side, forward and backwards as well. You will also be able to climb up high surfaces, which adds an additional element of tactics as it allows you to gain higher ground and therefore better position to strike. However, climbing is not yet implemented, but we are working on that.

STANCES
Everything revolves around stances. There are 4 stances in DBTB. Top, forward, down and back. These stances decide what type of attack you can perform. For example, you can perform horizontal attack from forward stance. By changing stances you change not just the style of attack but also its speed and your reach.
Your opponent must take up the same stance as you in order to parry or block your attack.
